I AM CUBA
I came across this film a decade ago and was blown away by the cinematography and utter strangeness of the mise en scene. The 1964 Soviet-Cuban film “I Am Cuba” is a long-lost treasure directed by Mikhail Kalatozov and rediscovered by Martin Scorcese and Francis Ford Coppola. It’s shot in B&W and features acrobatic tracking shots and innovative filming techniques. Do yourself a favor – take a break and watch the trailer for the restored version of “I am Cuba” – it will whet your appetite to track down this unforgettable film.
